trip to the market

Hello Hello!

Hope everyone is doing well and had a super start to their week. I’ve had a good past few days here in Lilongwe. The weather here is simply beautiful. Wonderfully warm and then cool at night. I’ve said this before I believe, but it 100% reminds me of Florida in the late fall. It also rained that Florida-y rain today where it downpours for 5 minutes. Dad you would love it here!!

I went my first market here on this continent and under-estimated the power of pushy craft-sellers. I, like a sucker, bought everything I could partly because this was incredibly exciting to me, partly because they kept telling me they had just come back from church and were starving, and partly because I simply can’t resist wooden elephants. My gosh, they flock to you like seagulls flock to a piece of bread on the beach. Fighting over you and pleading with you to come to their stands because they’ll “give you local discount”. Erina bought a really cool table while I just got little things including a canvas painting. I’ve decided that I’ll have to get someone to personally paint me a picture with a zebra in some sort of pink sunset – you know to match my apartment. ☺ While I’m definitely enjoying living in luxurious hotels in the capital, I’m very much looking forward to heading to Zomba so I can get to work over there and get a new taste of Malawi.

Well, hope everyone’s well—send me an emails!! I want to hear how everyone’s doing!!

Xoxox,
Alyson
