Hola! I’m very impressed with my blogging abilities lately, even though I tend to post the entries a day after I write them. Well everything is still going great. Today my colleagues and I went to visit Malawian businesses, NGOs, and government people. The government people were really intense, very dedicated to their positions and their country. They’re making sure everything we do during the Forum is very Malawian- which is obviously important. I met some more Ex-Pats (Americans/Europeans living abroad) today and will continue to meet more as the trip goes on. As for non-work related matters, I tried Indian food for the first time today—very very good! Erina had some sort of curry fish which was fantastic and I want to learn how to make it some how. The weather really reminds of Florida, so do the mosquitoes (or malaria carriers as I call them), and the geckos. The weather has been so beautiful- nice and warm during the day, then cool at night. I've yet to see any rain- strange since this is the rainy season. I’m still in perfect health (knock on wood), but I don’t know how long that will really last. (One of my coworkers has fallen ill, traveler’s sickness, or whatever phrase there is to say that nicely.) Anyway, that’s all for now- I’ll be sure to write more in the coming days!!
Peace and love to everyone back home!!
Xoxox,
Alyson

Glad things are going well! And shocked (not really actually...) that you just had Indian food for the first time. Did Sommer and I teach you nothing?? I love that you went to Malawi for your first indian food. LML!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you posted! I don't know why I'm not receiving updates, but I'm kind of glad because it gives me an excuse to neurotically check yet another website (add that onto the facebook, gmail, washingtonpost.com list!) Stay healthy and keep taking your malaria meds and those mosquitos will have nothing on you! I gather from your post that you haven't seen any scarily large bugs or rats-- just geckos. While I'm glad you've tried Indian food (although I am not a fan), I want to hear how Malawian food is. Make sure you think of me while you watch some soccer games-- those Africans LOVE their soccer (and of course, being colonized by the Brits, they call it "football"). I think the professional team in Malawi is called the Flames. Keep us updated! ~Tracy
